The main office of the Learning Support Unit (LSU) is found on the Main Campus.  You will find the LSU on the second floor of the Main Library and Learning Resource Centre at Paola.

 A professional team of qualified lecturers and support staff give service provision in all MCAST institutes.  The LSU supports students regardless of limited or lack of previous qualifications.  We collaborate closely with other units and institutes within MCAST to ensure that students receive the necessary academic support to succeed and become autonomous independent learners.

 The LSU considers different teaching and learning strategies to cover set Key Skills syllabi, from Foundation programmes throughout higher level courses.

 At Level 1 and Level 2, student needs are identified through diagnostic Initial Assessment Tests.  Students then receive complete withdrawal or additional support sessions.    Support is provided through vocational embedding and contextualization of Key Skills delivery – Maltese, English, Mathematics, Personal Development, Information Technology (IT) and Science.

 At higher levels, students are provided with extra support on a one-to-one basis or in a small group setting.

 All students requiring short or long term support are invited to drop in at the LSU for an informal chat to see how we can be of help.  LSU support provision is available for:

• general or specific literacy and numeracy/mathematical skills development;
• developing coping and study strategies according to particular learning conditions and needs;
• support in linguistic and communication skills for foreign nationals;
• planning for assignments and course work;
• development of general sound learning strategies and study skills for various academic and vocational purposes.
